Congratulations, Sibelco on winning the MPA Health & Safety Award ‘Safer Together’
Putting the ‘zero’ in Vision Zero, Sibelco’s ‘Zeropoly’ wins Safer Together award at the 2026 MPA Health and Safety Awards.
Yesterday we attended the MPA Health and Safety Awards 2026, sponsoring the ‘Safer Together’ award, which recognises those who go beyond looking after their own operation and contribute to raising standards across others and across the wider industry. The winner of the award was Sibelco, who have created a game called ‘Zeropoly’, a board game where players roll dice, move along the board and deal with health and safety issues as they progress.
The name Zeropoly comes from Sibelco’s zero harm objectives, and mirrors the MPA’s Vision Zero, both of which focus on the industry’s highest risk hazards known as the ‘Fatal 6’ and share the aim of ensuring every single person on site leaves “safe and well, every day”. Squares on the Zeropoly board game feature a potential hazard or test your reaction to each of these six, teaching procedures to players which they can then take into the real world.
At the awards a video case study showed us the success of the game, both in results among employees at Sibelco, as well as its global reach across their international sites and offices. The gamification of teaching competence and training was the answer to a lot of discussion at the show around “unengaging” slideshows and keeping delegates focussed and interested in training material. We’re excited to see attendees of the awards, as well as piers and colleagues of Sibelco, take this fantastic idea and implement it into their own practises.
Collecting the award: Andy Price, Global Centre of Excellence Lead, and An Buttiens, VP Health & Safety. Congratulations to you both and the team at Sibelco for creating a fantastic, innovative and enjoyable way to deliver training and work towards zero harm.
