MPQC Mobile Plant Operator Competency Scheme Updated

We have been working with MP Awards to support the evolution of the MPQC Operator Competency Scheme for mobile plant. Here's what you need to know about our recent updates.

MPQC assessment centres have been issued with a new scheme directive and migrated on the MPQC iAssessor App.

The scheme itself will remain the same however, operators will no longer receive a Red or Blue MPQC Card. Instead, they will be awarded an MP Awards Plant Operator Card that will provide access to a digital profile where operators will be listed as an Assessed Operator (completed their operational assessment) or a Competent Operator (completed their operational assessment and a relevant VQ).

Changes to the Operational Environments

There will now be three specific operational environments to reflect the diverse operations of the industry, these are: Plant, Construction and Road Surfacing, in order to progress to a Competent Operator delegates will need to complete a Vocational Qualification in one of the below;

  • Plant – Operatives can do either MPQC L2 Diploma in Minerals Products Mobile Plant Operations or MPQC L2 Diploma in Minerals Products Processing Operations
  • Construction - L2 Diploma in Plant Operation (Construction)
  • Road Surfacing – L2 Diploma in Road Building and Maintenance (Construction)

Accessing a Mobile Plant Operative’s Licence

The operative’s records will be displayed on the screen, making the process of checking the skills, training and qualifications of individuals accessible and secure.

Users will have a greater depth of information about the MPQC assessment including machine capacity, attachments and important details of the tasks that the operative has been assessed to complete.

Training records will be displayed using a traffic light system:

  • Green = the operator holds a current in-date record
  • Amber = the operator has three months or less until the training expires
  • Red = the operator’s training has expired
