Updates to ABA Forklift Operating Skills Test in 2021
The Accrediting Bodies Association for Workplace Transport (ABA) has announced a release date for an update of the operating skills test for the following workplace equipment types:
- Medium and Low-Level Order Pickers
- Counterbalance Trucks
- Reach Trucks
As of 1st April 2021, the new tests must be implemented across all businesses carrying out training on forklift trucks.
For counterbalance and reach trucks, the new standards have taken into account what the industry has raised and there are numerous updates coming into play with specific reference to the use of shunts in chicanes.
Changes to the tests relating to medium and high-level order pickers involves updates which reflect the modern working environment and the need of the industry itself and employers in the industry.
The testing standards can now be implemented however mandatory use will come into action from 1st April 2021. Any changes not already adopted by Certora will be implemented in the very near future ahead of the mandatory deadline.
