LANTRA Agriculture and Land Based Training Now Available at Certora

New for 2026, Certora can now deliver LANTRA qualifications for operators working in construction, agriculture and land-based industries.

Who are LANTRA?

LANTRA is one of the leading awarding bodies for land-based and agriculture industries in the UK and Republic of Ireland, operating for over 40 years. Officially a non-for-profit charity, LANTRA is headed by a board of directors with vast expertise and passion for both agriculture and developing people's skills and changing lives within the agriculture industry. This passion and expertise is reflected in the courses and qualifications available under the accrediting body; courses which develop operators into competent, professional teams and individuals, ready to contribute to and better the sector.

What Courses are Available?

There are a variety of LANTRA qualifications available through Certora, all at NVQ Level 2 and most commonly completed as part of the NPORS CSCS route to competence. The list of qualifications is easily divided into two types: certificate and diploma; the difference of which is best understood in intensity, where certificates are more specific to certain machinery and focus on in-depth knowledge and practical ability per machine, whereas diplomas have a more 'broad' exposure to the number of machines per course, and their focus is more specific to the work which can be completed by a 'category' of machines.

The full list of LANTRA Level 2 NVQ qualifications and diplomas can be seen below:

Is a LANTRA Qualification Correct for You?

Completing a LANTRA qualification is part of the NPORS CSCS route to competence, when an operator needs to hold this NPORS CSCS Competent Operator Card (Blue Card) for their job. Looking at the flowchart below, you can see that after novice training and a health and safety test, operators will get a trained operator card, and then completing the LANTRA Level 2 NVQ will award them the competent operator card.

Therefore, a LANTRA qualification is correct for you if you are on your NPORS CSCS route to competence, or if a Level 2 NVQ qualification will up-skill you for future employability or more responsibility/access to plant operations and machinery at work.

What Can I Expect on a LANTRA Qualification?

True to the LANTRA ethos, LANTRA qualifications are a combination of theory based and practical knowledge which allows operators to become true experts in their area of study. Not only this, but following the NPORS CSCS route to competence, and thus a LANTRA Level 2 NVQ, the training, supporting and qualification are all delivered on-site, using your existing machinery, meaning said experience is gained and then used in real working conditions. This results in less down-time and cost, more flexibility and balance between working and learning, and achieving competence in the workplace much faster than in a separate training centre and then bringing that skill into a new, unfamiliar environment.
